SARAJEVO, July 30 (Reuters) - The Bosnian parliament agreed on Wednesday to send a 49-man infantry unit to join the international force following a NATO request. The unit, to be deployed in August to Baghdad, will guard the United States Military Camp Victory. A 36-man mine clearance unit has already been deployed to the Diwaniyah area in southern Iraq. Bosnian troops have been serving in the Iraq mission since 2005. In a bid to bolster its bid for NATO membership, Bosnia has announced it would contribute soldiers to the NATO-led mission in Afghanistan next year. NATO leaders awarded Bosnia in April an "intensified dialogue" on its membership aspirations, a step before a formal membership plan is granted. The country is expected to put forward "action plans" to prepare for membership. (Reporting by Maja Zuvela; Editing by Angus MacSwan)
