FACTBOX-Security developments in Iraq, Dec 4

Dec 4 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1750 GMT on Tuesday.

* denotes new or updated items.

* BAGHDAD - Eight militants were killed and 14 detained in several operations around Iraq during the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence said.

* MOSUL - Three bodies were found around the northern city of Mosul during the past 24 hours. All had bullets in the head and chest, police said.

* TUZ KHURMATO - A security officer was killed and his brother wounded when unknown armed men opened fire on the officer's private car in the town of Tuz Khurmato, 180 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

* JALAWLA - A suicide bomber wearing a vest carried out an attack on a police station near a busy market, killing six people and wounding 25 in Jalawla, 110 km (70 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

* BAGHDAD - Six bodies were found on Tuesday around Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed two suspected al Qaeda fighters and detained 25 others during operations in central and northern Iraq, the U.S. military said.

MAHAWEEL - Two bodies were found in the town of Mahaweel, 75 km (45 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Gunmen attacked the home of Iraqi Electricity Minister Karim Waheed, killing one of his bodyguards and wounding another, a member of Waheed's security detachment said. Police said three guards were wounded.

MOSUL - A roadside bomb killed one policeman and wounded three others in Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, on Monday, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb wounded two civilians in the New Baghdad district in the east of the capital, police said.

TARMIYA - U.S. soldiers fired on a car carrying four Iraqi civilians, killing one and wounding the other three, during operations targeting al Qaeda militants in Tarmiya, 30 km (20 miles) north of Baghdad, on Monday, the U.S. military said. The driver of the car ignored instructions to stop, including two sets of warning shots, it said.
