ATHENS, April 5 (Reuters) - A Greek cruise ship ran aground near the Aegean Sea island of Santorini and about 1,200 passengers aboard are being evacuated, authorities said on Thursday.

"The ship ran aground half a nautical mile from the port of Santorini. Passengers are already abandoning it with the ship's life boats," a merchant marine ministry official, who declined to be named, told Reuters.
