FACTBOX-Military deaths in Afghanistan

Oct 5 (Reuters) - A British soldier was killed on Thursday and two others injured when a vehicle they were travelling in was caught in an explosion west of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence reported on Friday

Here are the figures for foreign military deaths in Afghanistan since the Taliban government was toppled in 2001:
