- One soldier dies after a PKK attack on a police station 15 kilometres from the city of Tunceli in southeastern Turkey. Special force units have been sent to the province.

- Turkey's Besiktas play like a second league team, losing 8-0 to Liverpool. The score is a record for the Champions League.

- The initial public offering for leading pay-TV company Digiturk is called off because of a lack of demand.

- Justice Minister Sahin says a draft reform of article 301 of the penal code will be sent to parliament in the coming days after the European Commission called for the article to be changed.
