BAGHDAD, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Three U.S. soldiers were killed in northern Iraq when an explosion hit their vehicle, the U.S. military said on Friday.

The U.S. military said in a statement the attack occurred in Nineveh province on Thursday. It gave no other details, such as whether the blast was caused by a roadside bomb or a car bomb.

The deaths take to more than 3,750 the number of U.S. soldiers killed since the start of the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. Fourteen U.S. soldiers have died so far this month.
