ISTANBUL, Oct 7 (Reuters) - A bomb exploded near a ferry terminal on the outskirts of Istanbul, injuring at least one policeman, an official said on Sunday.

Turkish news agencies said the explosion had injured four people in all but none were seriously hurt.

"It was a bomb detonated with the intent to do damage," said a police officer, who declined to be named.

No further information was immediately available.

Last week two bombs exploded in the Aegean coastal city of Izmir, killing one and wounding several others.

Bombs are not infrequent in Turkey, where Kurdish separatists, al Qaeda, and left-wing militants have all been blamed for attacks against civilians and the authorities.
