LONDON, June 8 (Reuters) - Petr Zhukov, the son of powerful Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov, was sentenced on Friday to 14 months in jail for grievous bodily harm, a spokeswoman for Southwark Crown Court said.

His friend Artjom Dashko was sentenced to 12 months in jail for the same offence.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said the incident, which could end in deportation for the pair after they have completed their sentences, was a drunken attack on investment banker Ben Ramsey last year which left the victim needing hospital treatment.

British media said he needed 25 stitches in his face and suffered a crushed cheekbone, two cracked ribs and numerous bruises.

The CPS said the three men had been drinking together in a London apartment but that when Ramsey tried to leave he had suddenly been attacked by the pair.

Zhukov told the court he had intervened to break up a fight at a party between Dashko and Ramsey who was knocked unconscious before staggering into the street to call for help.

He admitted punching Ramsey but said he could not remember exactly how many times.
