GAZA, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Hamas said on Friday it would never recognise Israel and that an agreement on a Palestinian unity government does not change the movement's position.

"We will never recognise Israel. There is nothing called Israel, neither in reality nor in the imagination," Nizar Rayyan, a senior Hamas leader in Gaza, told Reuters.

His comments were endorsed by a Hamas spokesman.
