One hit the airport but failed to explode; the other two missed and "landed harmlessly in the desert", the statement said. MOSUL - Gunmen shot dead the head of the Nineveh province branch of the National Identity Department outside his office in the provincial capital, Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said. MOSUL- Gunmen shot dead a civilian in his car in eastern Mosul, police said. BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed a civilian and wounded four others when it exploded in east Baghdad's Palestine Street, police said. BAGHDAD - A suicide car bomber killed two civilians and wounded 11 people when it hit an Iraqi army vehicle in Mansour district, central Baghdad, police said. Three soldiers were among the wounded. TUZ KHUMATO - Iraqi police found the body of a civilian in Tuz Khumato, 170 km (105 miles) north of Baghdad, police said. The body bore signs of gunshot wounds and torture, police added.
