MOSCOW, Dec 10 (Reuters) - A fire at a Russian psychiatric hospital killed nine people and wounded 16, local media reported on Sunday, just over a day after a blaze at a hospital in Moscow killed 45 women.

The psychiatric hospital is in the Kemerovo region of Western Siberia. The fire broke out on Saturday night when 223 patients and seven staff were in the building, Itar-Tass news agency quoted emergency services as saying.

Arson is suspected, the agency quoted a spokesman for Kemerovo's governor as saying. The evacuated patients have been rehoused temporarily in hospitals in the regional capital, Kemerovo.

The Moscow fire was in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic. Prosecutors have launched an investigation into fire safety breaches after female patients trying to flee the fire found exits blocked by metal grilles.
