JERUSALEM, Jan 12 (Reuters) - An Israeli gunboat opened fire on a Palestinian fishing boat the Gaza Strip, wounding two of its crew, a Palestinian security source said on Friday, adding that a third fisherman was missing. An Israeli army spokeswoman confirmed the gunboat had fired warning shots when the fishing boat was spotted near Israel's territorial waters on Thursday but she said the Israeli naval crew reported they had not hit anyone. "Warning shots were fired in the air and at the boat, but the naval crew reported that nobody had been hit and that they continued to fish after the shooting had stopped," she said. Hospital staff in Gaza said the two men were not seriously hurt. Security officials said the search for the missing fisherman would continue after first light. Gunmen fired a makeshift rocket from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel late on Thursday which fell in an open area and caused no casualties or damage, the army said. Earlier, in the northern Gaza Strip, a gunman from the governing Hamas militant group showed off a small Israeli surveillance drone which the group said it had shot down. The Israeli army said the drone came down because of a technical fault and it had not been shot down.
