KINSHASA, Nov 11 (Reuters) - Congo's government threatened to send the army on to the streets of the capital on Saturday to quell clashes between police and soldiers loyal to a former rebel chief challenging the president in elections.

"If this continues the army will have to intervene to restore order," Interior Minister Denis Kalume told Reuters.
