GAZA CITY - Two Palestinians were killed and at least three others wounded when gunfire erupted at a peace rally where hundreds protested against the surge in factional violence, hospital officials said.

KHAN YOUNIS, Gaza - Hamas militants attacked Fatah positions controlled by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's National Security Forces, witnesses said. One Fatah gunman, a Hamas fighter, three civilians and one unidentified man were killed and 30 others were wounded, medical officials said. A separate Hamas attack on a nearby building belonging to Fatah's Preventive Security killed 13 people, an Abbas aide said. Hospital officials did not immediately confirm the toll. Also in Khan Younis, a Palestinian working for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency was killed, apparently in crossfire, UNRWA said. A second UNRWA worker died of gunshot wounds sustained on Tuesday. UNRWA announced it was scaling back its operations in Gaza.

GAZA CITY - Hamas and Fatah militants battled for several hours near the house of a Fatah spokesman. Six Fatah members were killed in the fighting, hospital and Fatah officials said.

GAZA CITY - Four members of a Fatah clan and a Hamas gunman died during clashes, hospital officials said. Another, unidentified, Palestinian was killed in separate violence.

* GAZA CITY - Two Palestinian women who tried to flee a combat zone in a car were killed by gunfire and three other women in the vehicle were wounded, hospital officials said. During a later clash between Fatah and Hamas, a 12-year-old boy and an unarmed Palestinian man were killed, hospital officials said.

In Gaza City's Beach refugee camp, a Fatah gunman was killed in a clash with Hamas, hospital officials said.

CENTRAL GAZA STRIP - Hamas said it took control of two Fatah positions near the border with Israel after brief battles with members of Abbas's National Security Forces. One Fatah fighter was killed and 10 other people were wounded in the fighting, hospital officials and residents said. Fatah militants fired a rocket-propelled grenade at the home of the Hamas deputy minister of information, causing no injuries but setting the house ablaze.

NABLUS, West Bank - Masked gunmen shot and wounded three Hamas members who were leaving a mosque in the volatile West Bank town of Ramallah, Hamas officials said. A Hamas Web site blamed Fatah for the attack. A Palestinian with no known factional affiliations was also shot and wounded in the city.
