NAIROBI, Nov 12 (Reuters) - A road crash killed 15 people in southern Tanzania when a truck loaded with bricks hit a packed minibus after its brakes failed, local media said on Monday.

Thirteen other passengers were wounded in the accident on Sunday in remote Mbeya region, the reports said.

"I tried to caution the minibus driver by flashing him with my lights, but to no avail and I hit the vehicle from behind," the truck driver told a state-run newspaper, the Daily News.

Road accidents are common across east Africa, where vehicles are often overloaded and in poor condition. Eleven people died on Sunday in neighbouring Kenya when a bus plunged off a bridge. (Reporting by George Obulutsa; Editing by Daniel Wallis)
