LONDON, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Taliban forces killed a British Marine in fighting in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday, the Ministry of Defence said.

It said the marines were patrolling in a district in the southern province of Helmand, when they came under attack. The marine died from small arms fire.

The death brings to 43 the number of British troops killed in Afghanistan since the war to oust the Taliban in 2001.
