CANBERRA, Sept 13 (Reuters) - Australia's tsunami warning centre cancelled tsunami warnings for Australia's west coast on Thursday following a powerful earthquake off the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre warning had covered vast areas of Indian Ocean coastline in the Western Australia state, from the remote northern pearling settlement of Kuri Bay, down to the southern town of Albany. "Only small rises in sea level were associated with this tsunami as it reached the WA coast. The tsunami no longer poses a threat to the community," it said in a bulletin. Australia had also earlier issued tsunami warnings for its Indian Ocean territories of Christmas Island and Cocos Island, but the magnitude 8.2 quake resulted in only a minor change in sea levels, the Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre said.
