GAZA, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Israeli troops backed by armoured vehicles and aircraft clashed with Palestinian militants during a raid into the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, killing one militant and wounding another, witnesses and medics said. Local residents said that Israeli troops entered a village near the southern Gaza city of Khan Yunis early Tuesday morning and exchanged fire with Palestinian militants. Palestinian medical workers said the militant killed was a member of the Islamist group Hamas's armed wing. An Israeli army spokesman said: "During an operation against terrorist activity, Israeli troops came upon armed militants and identified hitting one in an air assault."
