ASMARA, April 13 (Reuters) - Two Eritrean state media journalists are being held in secret in Somalia after being seized late last year, a media rights group said on Friday. Asmara said last month three Eritreans were detained by Kenya, already under pressure from rights groups for its treatment of people trying to flee Somalia, and then deported "in chains" to Mogadishu. Reporters without Borders (RSF) said two were journalists and asked the Ethiopian and Somali governments to provide information about them. The third Eritrean was not a journalist, it added. "Saleh Idris Gama, of the Eritrean state-run Eri-TV, and cameraman Tesfalidet Kidane Tesfazghi, vanished in Mogadishu late last year while covering fighting between the Union of Islamic Courts and the federal transitional government," RSF said in a statement. "We fear for their safety, whether they continue to be held or are returned to their own country," the statement added. Ethiopian and Somali officials were not immediately available for comment. Asmara is widely accused of supporting Somalia's Islamists who were ousted this year by an Ethiopian-backed interim government offensive. Eritrea vehemently denies the claim. RSF routinely criticises Eritrea over press freedom. The Red Sea state has no independent media.
