ROME, March 14 (Reuters) - An Italian reporter seized by the Taliban in Afghanistan last week has appeared speaking in a video received by a non-governmental aid agency on Wednesday, the aid group Emergency said.

"During Wednesday, March 14, in Afghanistan, a video tape regarding the kidnap of the journalist (Daniele) Mastrogiacomo was received by Emergency," the group said in a statement.

According to PeaceReporter, a news Web site which specialises in conflict and works closely with relief services in Afghanistan, Mastrogiacomo says in the two-minute video: "Today is March 12, it is 8 a.m. in Afghanistan."
