JERUSALEM, May 15 (Reuters) - Israeli aircraft fired into uninhabited areas of northern Gaza on Tuesday shortly after militants launched rockets into southern Israel, the Israeli army said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

An army spokeswoman described the Israeli fire as a "deterrent" aimed at preventing militants from firing additional rockets at Israeli towns near the Gaza border.
