By Arthur Asiimwe KIGALI, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Rwandan investigators probing alleged French involvement in the country's 1994 genocide handed their report to President Paul Kagame on Friday, but officials refused to divulge details to the media. Rwanda severed diplomatic ties with France last year after a French judge said Kagame should stand trial for the killing of his predecessor, an act widely seen as triggering the slaughter. "All I can say is that the report does implicate very heavily different key players in the Rwandan genocide," Rwanda's Attorney General Tharcisse Karugarama told reporters in Kigali. "It highlights key players in the Rwandan genocide, their different roles and ... sets recommendations." Rwanda accuses French forces of training and arming militias that carried out most of the murders. France, which sent soldiers to Rwanda in an operation authorized by the United Nations, denies any involvement in the 100 days of bloodshed that killed an estimated 800,000 people. Karugarama said the 500-page report would be made public after the authorities had scrutinised it. Its authors took statements from more than 600 witnesses, including victims of the violence, militiamen and foreign journalists. "It is appropriate and advisable that we wait for the authorities to whom it has been submitted to analyse it and take necessary action in regard to the recommendations," he said.
