BAGHDAD, July 16 (Reuters) - A car bomb killed 12 people and wounded 30 others in the northern Iraqi town of Tal Afar on Wednesday, local officials said. The mayor of the town said all the dead were civilians. Brigadier-General Khalid Abdul-Sattar, a security spokesman for surrounding Nineveh province, confirmed the death toll. The attack came a day after a spate of bombings killed around 40 people and wounded scores in northern Iraq, where al Qaeda militants are still active. (Editing by Dean Yates)
