PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria, Aug 17 (Reuters) - Police imposed a night curfew in Nigeria's oil city Port Harcourt on Friday after dozens of people were killed in fighting between troops and gangs, a police spokeswoman said.

Local newspapers reported that up to 40 people were killed on Thursday when troops fought street battles with insurgents across the sprawling city, which serves as the main base for Africa's largest oil industry.
