Oct 18 (Reuters) - Following are security and other developments in Iraq reported on Wednesday as of 1650 GMT:

* BAGHDAD - Iraqi army arrested eight "terrorists" and 22 suspected insurgents in different parts of Iraq, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.

* FALLUJA - Gunmen killed a policeman in the Sunni stronghold city of Falluja, 50 km (35 miles) west of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD – A U.S. soldier was killed on Tuesday when the vehicle he was riding in was struck by a roadside bomb north of Baghdad.

SUWAYRA - Gunmen shot dead a policeman as he was leaving his house in the town of Suwayra, 40 km (25 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

SUWAYRA - Gunmen killed a former member of Saddam Hussein's ousted Baath party in the town of Suwayra, police said.

BAGHDAD - Four U.S. soldiers were killed when their vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb west of Baghdad on Tuesday, the U.S. military said.

TIKRIT - Three U.S. soldiers were killed and one wounded while conducting operations in northern Diyala province on Tuesday, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - A U.S. soldier was killed in northern Baghdad after insurgents attacked his patrol with small-arms fire in northern Baghdad on Tuesday, the U.S. military said.

ANBAR PROVINCE - A U.S. Marine died from wounds he sustained in combat in western Anbar province on Tuesday, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - A car bomb targeting an Iraqi army patrol in central Baghdad wounded five civilians, an Interior Ministry source said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed an Iraqi soldier and wounded two others on Tuesday in Baghdad's western Yarmouk district, an Interior Ministry source said.

NEAR HILLA - Police found the body of a police officer shot dead in an area between Kerbala and Hilla, 100 km (62 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.
