FACTBOX-Security developments in Iraq, May 20

May 20 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 2100 GMT on Tuesday:

* RUTBA - A woman suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest killed a member of the U.S.-backed neighbourhood police and wounded seven people at a police station, police said. Rutba is 360 km (220 miles) west of Baghdad.

* MOSUL - Gunmen in a car killed the cleric of a mosque in western Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

* AL WAHIDA - Georgian and U.S. soldiers on Monday captured a suspected leader of a cell believed to be involved in a roadside bomb attack that killed two Georgian soldiers this month, the U.S. military said on Tuesday. Al Wahida is south of Baghdad.

BA'AJ - Iraqi soldiers rescued a police recruit who was kidnapped on Monday in an attack on a minibus that killed 11 recruits. One of the kidnappers was killed and another was detained in the rescue operation, said an army source.

DIYALA PROVINCE- A mortar attack killed three Iraqi civilians and wounded nine others.

DIYALA PROVINCE - A child was killed and two civilians were wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up in Diyala province in eastern Iraq, the U.S. military said.

DHULUIYA - Gunmen killed five U.S.-backed neighbourhood policemen in a drive-by shooting on their vehicle in Dhuluiya, 70 km (45 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed a senior al Qaeda leader in Samarra, north of Baghdad, and detained 20 others in different areas in Iraq on Monday and Tuesday, the U.S. military said.

FALLUJA - A suicide bomber killed himself and three members of his family including his wife and sister and wounded two others when the police surrounded his house in western Falluja, 50 km (30 miles) west of Baghdad, police said.

BALAD RUZ - A mortar bomb killed two people and wounded nine in a market in Balad Ruz, 90 km (55 miles) northeast of Baghdad, police said.

MANDILI - A woman suicide bomber attacked the house of Sheikh Mutlib al-Nidawi, the head of the U.S.-backed neighbourhood police of Mandili, killing his niece and wounding him as well as two of his guards, police said. Mandili is 100 km (60 miles) northeast of Baghdad.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb inside a minibus killed one person and wounded four others in Rustumiya district, in southeastern Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb wounded two people in Zayouna district, in eastern Baghdad, police said. (compiled by Aws Qusay)
