Aug 23 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1100 GMT on Thursday:

* NEAR BAQUBA - Al Qaeda fighters kidnapped 15 Iraqi women and children after rival Sunni Arab militants repelled their attack on two villages in a fierce battle on Thursday in which 32 people were killed, police said.

* BAGHDAD - A U.S. soldier was killed and four others wounded during combat operations in an area west of Baghdad on Wednesday, the U.S. military said on Thursday.

* MOSUL - Gunmen killed a member of the Sunni Iraqi Islamic Party along with his driver in a drive-by shooting in the northern city of Mosul, police said.

* BAIJI - The final death toll of the suicide fuel tanker targeting Baiji police station on Wednesday rose to 27 and 79 wounded, said doctor Thamir al-Kawan, the head of Baiji hospital.

* KUT - Three mortar rounds landed near Kut police directorate and killed two people and wounded six, police said. Kut is 170 km (100 miles) southeast of Baghdad.

* BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb near a parking lot killed a man and wounded four others in New Baghdad district in eastern Baghdad, police said.

* BAGHDAD - Two people were killed and four wounded by a mortar attack in northern Baghdad, police said.

* MUQDADIYA - The final death toll of the suicide motorbike which targeted a police patrol in a market on Wednesday in the town of Muqdadiya, 90 km (50 miles) northeast of Baghdad rose to 10 and 31 wounded, police said.

* BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed one insurgent and detained 10 others during operations in cities of Baquba, Baiji and Mosul targeting al-Qaeda weapons and leadership networks, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - Police said they found bodies of 15 people were found in different districts of Baghdad on Thursday.

BASRA - The British forces killed two insurgents on Wednesday when their military convoy was attacked by small arms fire and rocket propelled grenade (RPG) in the southern city of Basra, 550 km (340 miles) southeast of Baghdad, the British military said.

MOSUL - The bodies of two people were found, bound with gunshot wounds, in Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAQUBA - Joint Iraqi and U.S. forces arrested 40 suspected al-Qaeda members in the past days in the volatile city of Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, the Iraqi army said.
