(Adds Islamic Jihad comment) GAZA, June 24 (Reuters) - Israel carried out an air strike on Sunday targeting a car used by Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip, killing at least one militant, hospital officials and local residents said. The army confirmed the air strike but provided no further details. It was the first Israeli air strike on a car in several weeks. Islamic Jihad identified the dead man as a senior local commander in the group's rocket firing unit. Another person in the vehicle was seriously injured. Islamic Jihad has claimed responsibility for more cross-border rocket attacks against southern Israel than any other group since Hamas seized control of Gaza more than a week ago.
