HURRIYET - Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan gives a clear message on the subject of a cross-border operation into Iraq targeting Kurdish guerrillas, saying Turkey must act as the country has always done what is necessary on the subject of terrorism. SABAH - The armed forces say 30 Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) rebels were killed in a clash which targeted 100 guerrillas who were preparing an attack along the Iraqi border on Tuesday. MILLIYET - University rectors issue a declaration giving their full support to the armed forces over their campaign against Kurdish rebels. AKSAM - The United States says it is doing what it can to rescue eight Turkish soldiers seized by Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq and says it is enhancing security cooperation with Turkey. VATAN - Figures from the treasury and foreign trade secretariat show that a Turkish embargo against northern Iraq would bring the region to its knees, with Turkey accounting for 65 percent of imports into the region. REFERANS - Some 300 businessmen from northern Iraq take part in a trade fair in the southeast Turkish city of Diyarbakir while talk continues of a possible trade embargo on northern Iraq.
