CAIRO, April 27 (Reuters) - Two prison inmates died and 15 were injured in a fire in an Egyptian prison on Friday, security sources said.

A preliminary assessment suggested an electrical short sparked a fire in the inmates' sleeping quarters in Wadi el Natrun prison, around 100 km northwest of Cairo, the sources said.

The injured, one of whom was said to be in critical condition, were being treated in the prison's hospital wing.

The Interior Ministry declined immediate comment.
