FACTBOX-Security developments in Iraq, May 28

May 28 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 1200 GMT on Wednesday:

* denotes new or updated item.

* BAGHDAD - U.S. forces captured an alleged al-Qaeda leader and seven other suspected insurgents on Tuesday and Wednesday during operations in Baghdad and Mosul 390 km (240 miles) north of the capital, the U.S. military said.

* BAGHDAD - Iraqi forces captured three suspected Shi'ite militants in two operations around Baghdad on Tuesday, the U.S. military said.

* THAR THAR LAKE - The Iraqi army arrested three insurgents disguised in women's clothes on Tuesday in the Thar Thar Lake area, 80 km (50 miles) northwest of Baghdad, the defence ministry said in a statement.

* BAGHDAD - The Iraqi army arrested four wanted men on Tuesday in Baghdad, the defence ministry said in a statement.

BAIJI - Police killed seven suspected al-Qaeda militants during clashes in a village just outside the town of Baiji, 180 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, on Tuesday and Wednesday, police said. Three policemen were wounded in the clashes.

GARMA - A mob stormed the house of a member of a U.S.-backed neighbourhood patrol and stabbed him to death in the town of Garma, 30 km (20 miles) northwest of Baghdad, police said.
