ZURICH, Dec 28 (Reuters) - At least 17 people were killed and some 140 are still missing after the boats in which they were fleeing from Somalia capsized off the coast of Yemen late on Wednesday, the U.N. refugee agency said on Thursday.

Many of the survivors said they were fleeing as a result of the conflict between the Ethiopian-backed Somali government and rival Islamists, it said.
