LUANDA, March 29 (Reuters) - Scores of detainees were injured on Saturday when a six-storey police building collapsed in the Angolan capital Luanda, state news agency Angop reported. Angolan police chief Ambrosio de Lemos said the cause of the collapse of the National Criminal Investigation Department (DNIC) building was so far unknown but no "external factor" was involved.

The building in Luanda's Rangel district collapsed shortly before dawn.

De Lemos said emergency workers were rescuing those trapped in the rubble and that they were being taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The BBC reported on its Web site that more than 80 people were injured. (Reporting by Marius Bosch)
