BERLIN, Jan 30 (Reuters) - A fire in a local power plant caused a blackout on Wednesday in the southern German city of Karlsruhe, police said.

A police spokesman said an unexplained fault in the plant had caused the fire and led to a temporary cut-off in electricity for all of Karlsruhe.

He said the fire was now under control and power had been restored in parts of the city. (Reporting by Hans-Edzard Busemann, editing by Anthony Barker)
