FREETOWN, Sept 9 (Reuters) - At least 70 people, mostly children, died when their boat capsized in a heavy storm off Sierra Leone, police said on Wednesday.

"Most of the dead were children between the ages of eight and sixteen years old," Sam Bangura, a senior police officer, told Reuters in response to inquiries. He added that police had found 24 survivors from the accident on Tuesday but were searching for more as the boat had been carrying 150 people. (Reporting by Christo Johnson; Writing by David Lewis)
