SYDNEY, Oct 11 (Reuters) - A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck the Pacific island nation of Tonga on Sunday, but there were no immediate reports of damage, seismologists and local officials said. The earthquake was at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles) with the epicentre about 65 km (40 miles) east of Hihifo in Tonga, the United States Geological Survey said on its website. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a tsunami alert. It is less than two weeks since an earthquake and tsunami disaster killed some 150 people in the region, in Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga.
