FACTBOX-Military deaths in Afghanistan

Sept 11 (Reuters) - A British soldier has been killed in an explosion in southern Afghanistan, Britain's Defence Ministry said on Thursday.

The unidentified soldier, from the Royal Logistic Corps, was on a routine patrol near Musa Qala in Helmand province on Wednesday when he was caught in the blast.

Here are figures for foreign military deaths as a result of violence or accidents in Afghanistan since the Taliban government was toppled in 2001:
