BURON, Russia, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Russia on Monday was pushing thousands of soldiers with dozens of tanks and multiple rocket launchers towards Georgia's rebel region of South Ossetia, a Reuters reporter at the scene said.

Russia's military is giving priority to Uragan (Hurricane) multiple rocket launchers on the serpentine mountain roads near Buron, just north of the Russian border with South Ossetia, a Reuters reporter said.

Dozens of mostly T-72 battle tanks are sliding towards the border with some older T-62 tanks, the reporter said. Thousands of Russian soldiers are streaming along the roads, which are peppered with tunnels through the mountains. (Reporting by Dmitry Solovyov, writing by Guy Faulconbridge, editing by XXX)
