PARIS, Nov 17 (Reuters) - Fake drugs worth an estimated $6.6 million have been seized and 27 people were arrested in police raids across Southeast Asia, Interpol said on Monday. More than 16 million counterfeit pills were confiscated between mid-April and September 15 in Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, the Paris-based global police body said in a statement. The operation targeted individuals and groups involved in the manufacture and distribution of counterfeit medicines intended to treat tuberculosis and HIV-AIDS as well as antibiotics for pneumonia and childhood illnesses, it said. The police action was supported by Interpol, the World Health Organisation and the World Customs Organisation, it said. (Reporting by Tamora Vidaillet; editing by Michael Roddy)
