NAPLES, Italy, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Far-right Italian activists poured dye in six fountains in Naples on Friday, turning the water a bright blood red to protest against the killing of civilians in Gaza during Israel's offensive.

Police said they had found leaflets signed by a group calling itself Cuib and bearing the Celtic cross -- a symbol of the far right in Italy -- near the fountains in two central squares and a popular shopping area. "27 December 2008 - 18 January 2009, Operation Cast Lead, 1,203 dead, 5,300 wounded. The world sat by and watched on the edge of the precipice," the leaflets said.

Police said they were investigating the incident in the southern Italian city. (Reporting by Laura Viggiano)
