JOHANNESBURG, Dec 24 (Reuters) - Zimbabwean human rights activist Jestina Mukoko was charged on Wednesday with plotting to overthrow President Robert Mugabe's government. Here are some facts about her: * Mukoko heads the Zimbabwe Peace Project, a human rights monitoring group. Mukoko has emerged as one of Mugabe's toughest and influential critics. * She has defied state security agents, publicly presenting her findings on what she said are violent abuses. Her group documented violence during elections this year. * Mukoko is a former newscaster for the state-controlled Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation. * Mukoko was taken away at gunpoint at dawn in Harare on Dec. 3 by a group of plain-clothes men who stormed her house and identified themselves as policemen. * Zimbabwe's High Court had ordered police to find Mukoko after her disappearance. Police had initially said she was not in their custody. * Mukoko's is the most high-profile of a series of arrests of activists recently. The opposition says scores have been abducted.
