ATHENS, June 27 (Reuters) - A 5.1 magnitude earthquake followed by several weaker tremors shook the Greek island of Santorini early on Saturday, but there were no reports of injuries or damage.

The Athens Geodynamic institute said the main quake had its epicentre in the Aegean Sea about 225 km (140 miles) southeast of the Greek capital.

Another tremor of 4.7 magnitude struck north of Santorini, followed by several weaker quakes.

"There is seismic activity in the region," seismologist Dimitris Makaris told Reuters. "The first ones were certainly felt but the tremors that followed were weaker."

Local police officials said there were no reports of injuries or damage to buildings. (Reporting by Renee Maltezou)
