Mortars kill 8, wound 40 in central Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Dec 6 (Reuters) - Mortar rounds fell on a busy commercial district of central Baghdad on Wednesday, killing eight people and wounding 40, police said.

Four or five bombs fell on the Midan district of Baghdad's old town, the latest in a spate of such attacks across the capital. The old town has seen a particular upsurge in violence in the past few weeks.
