MANILA, Nov 22 (Reuters) - A bomb ripped through a packaging counter at a shopping mall on the southern Philippine island of Mindanao on Thursday, killing one and wounding four, police officials said.

Police said the improvised device was placed inside a black backpack and left at the package counter at the entrance of KMCC shopping mall in Kidapawan City.

"We're still investigating the incident," a police spokesman told reporters, adding no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. (Reporting by Manny Mogato; Editing by Carmel Crimmins and Sanjeev Miglani)
