KINGSTON, Sept 3 (Reuters) - The opposition Jamaica Labour Party appears to have won a cliffhanger national election on Monday, ending more than 18 years in power for the People's National Party, CVM television and Television Jamaica said.

The JLP, led by veteran politician Bruce Golding, had won 31 of 60 parliamentary seats to oust the ruling PNP and Portia Simpson Miller, Jamaica's first woman prime minister, the two networks said.

Simpson Miller has already announced she was not conceding defeat and her party would demand recounts.
