Quake hits New Caledonia's Loyalty Islands

WASHINGTON, April 4 (Reuters) - An earthquake of 6.3 magnitude struck the Loyalty Islands of New Caledonia in the south Pacific on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The temblor hit at 10 p.m. local time, 7 a.m. EDT (1100 GMT), about 85 miles (135 km) northeast of Tadine, Loyalty Islands, and at a depth of 6.2 miles (10 km), the agency said. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
