CALGARY, Alberta, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Three people were killed when a Greyhound bus skidded on an icy stretch of northern Alberta highway and rolled into a ditch on Tuesday, local media reported.

Officials said some of the 28 passengers had to be pulled from beneath the bus, which crashed before dawn about 50 km (31 miles) east of Grande Prairie, Alberta, the Edmonton Journal reported on its Web site.

Six people were taken to hospital, and two of them were listed in critical condition, CTV television reported.

A Royal Canadian Mounted Police spokesman was quoted as saying weather may have been a factor in the incident, as it had snowed Monday and the highway had ice on it.
