Colombia says will name place for hostage talks

BOGOTA, Dec 7 (Reuters) - Colombian President Alvaro Uribe said on Friday he would agree to name a location for talks aimed at freeing hostages such as French-Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt held for years by leftist rebels.

But he did not agree to withdraw troops from any area despite rebel demands for a New York City-sized demilitarized zone to be used as a safe haven to negotiate the swap of hostages for jailed guerrillas. (Reporting by Hugh Bronstein; Editing by Patricia Zengerle)
