Hurricane Humberto makes landfall on Texas Coast

HOUSTON, Sept 13 (Reuters) - Hurricane Humberto made landfall on the Texas coast as a Category 1 storm with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph (137 kph), the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Thursday.

The NHC update issued at 2:10 a.m. CDT (0710 GMT) said the center of the storm crossed the Texas coast just east of High Island, about 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Galveston.
