WASHINGTON, Oct 14 (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Omar reached hurricane strength in the Caribbean Sea on Tuesday as it headed toward Puerto Rico and the small islands of the northeastern Caribbean, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.
The storm had sustained winds of 75 miles per hour (120 kph) as it churned about 315 miles (505 km) southwest of Puerto Rico, the Miami-based hurricane center said.
